ShambaJijini Summit
16th to 31st of October 2021
Sheena Shah & Michael Waiyaki
Sheena Shah and Michael Waiyaki explain to us how they see and experience regenerative urban farming. They als explain and integrate aspects of organic farming and permaculture into farming and living.
Both being trainers, they deep-dive into the business opportunity of training people in regenerative farming. Both are overwhelmed by the opportunities found in Nairobi and across Kenya, so this conversation is also a calling of the youth to venture into that business.
Sheena is the Founder of Harvesting for Good East Africa. HFG-EA aims to transform micro and macro lots to reach long-term resilience, by integrating permaculture design. Her focus on regenerative business ensures long-term sustainable development, in overseeing permaculture development in East Africa.
"People are hungry for change."
Michael Nganga is the Founder and CEO of Miti Alliance, a social enterprise operating in Kenya focusing on planting and growing trees. His background is in project management and holds a master’s degree in energy and sustainability.
"Regenerative living means seeing our world of tomorrow with the next generation's eyes. Everything goes back to our spirit, to our way of being. We need to ask ourselves: What are we leaving behind?"
