ShambaJijini Summit
16th to 31st of October 2021
Michael Waiyaki Nganga
"Regenerative living means seeing our world of tomorrow with the next generation's eyes. Everything goes back to our spirit, to our way of being. We need to ask ourselves: What are we leaving behind?"
Michael Nganga is the Founder and CEO of Miti Alliance, a social enterprise operating in Kenya focusing on planting and growing trees. His background is in project management and holds a master’s degree in energy and sustainability.
Michael and Sheena Shah explain to us how they see regenerative urban farming and bring aspects of organic farming and permaculture into the way of farming and living. They dive deep into the business opportunity of training people in regenerative farming. As they are overwhelmed with the opportunities present in Nairobi and across Kenya they call upon the youth to go into that business. They already see ShambaJijini food soldiers across Kenya, which is very inspiring for making a change as a community.

ARE YOU THINKING OF GROWING YOUR OWN FOOD?
Are you thinking about growing your own food – on your windowsill, your balcony, in the backyard, or in a shamba on the outskirts of your hometown? Would you like to move towards self-sufficiency, not just for yourself, but also for your community and the city where you live?
Did you ever think about a more sustainable, even regenerative way of farming?ShambaJijini Summit brings you stories of people who grow food for their families without the use of chemicals. People, who earn a living from regenerative farming or even created a completely new career path for themselves.
If this is your line of thought, welcome to ShambaJijini.
