ShambaJijini Summit
16th to 31st of October 2021
Jessica de Boer
"You can feel sometimes quite small and the challenges are big, but remember we are mighty- as the bees."
Jess de Boer is a young farmer, beekeeper, and lifelong student of the soil. A Kenyan national of Dutch descent born and raised in Kenya, she has spent the last decade working across the East and Horn of Africa in the Regenerative Agriculture space. Jess is currently working as the Trials and Seed Coordinator at AGVenture LTD, a company which works with non-irrigated farms with a focus on enabling sustainable Conservation Agriculture practices to be established.
In the interview, Jess is enthusiastically talking about how bees gave her purpose in life. She gives insights into how to attract and keep bees. She also chats about how she moved from “small” creatures to large-scale regenerative agriculture practices.
